San Antonio, TX – Keith Thurman was victorious over in what proved to be his toughest outing yet when he took on undefeated and dangerous Diego Chavez from Argentina. Early on both fighters were finding success with some heavy shots. Thurman had acknowledged that he was in a tough fight stating to the media in the post fight presser, “I had to pull some things out, I knew this was going to be one of the toughest fights and when you fight an undefeated fighter you know they are going to bring their all”.

During the early rounds of the fight it had appeared that Chaves caught Thurman with a good shot leaving Thurman bleeding from his nose. “He caught me real good on the nose and he caught me real good on the temple once”. Thurman also stated he had been feeling a little eager early on to try for the knock out feeling he would be able to go for the knockout.
During the middle rounds Thurman seemed to have found a groove, and because of the work done in his training camp he was able to make some adjustments. Thurman would state emphatically, “if you don’t do your homework, you dont pass the test. In camp we did out homework, tape after tape, film after film. I was staring him down jumping rope I was every day in the gym. I saw that he (chavez) would fade in the later rounds”.
Thurman stated that Floyd Mayweather was on his radar. “If you are a welterweight, and you ain’t trying to get the king in the ring, I don’t know what you are doing in the welterweight division” Understanding that Mayweather is still going to be sometime down the road, Thurman acknowledged that it was still something that would need some building to obtain. “It’s still a long journey, I’m still coming up, I’m young. I have him on my radar and one day im pretty sure he will see that I am on his radar”.
Thurman would also go on to field questions pertaining to Adrien Broner who holds the full WBA welterweight title and potential match up down the road. “Its a great fight and you never know whats going to happen. I get tweets and face booked, everybody wants to see me and Adrien Broner. Well have to see what the future holds”.
