Former WBA welterweight champion Rolly Romero speaks with the media following his majority decision loss to Teofimo Lopez at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Romero had one of his biggest moments in the fifth round, opening a significant cut over Lopez’s right eye and hurting him with a series of punches. After 12 competitive rounds, Lopez was awarded the majority decision by scores of 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112, becoming a three-division world champion and capturing the WBA welterweight title.
At the post-fight press conference, Romero made it clear that he strongly disagreed with the judges’ decision, calling the result a “robbery” and making his case for an immediate rematch with Lopez.
