Sin City Showdown: Bogere vs. Reyes Results Recap

‘The Lion’ Sharif Bogere (31-1) started of 2018 in a big way by easily dispatching of his foe tonight, Arturo Reyes (19-9), by cruising to a unanimous decision verdict as the headliner of Mayweather Promotions’ first boxing show of the year. The Sin City Showdown card from Sam’s Town Casino and Gambling Hall served as the backdrop to the lightweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds with Bogere using that 30 minute window to put together a solid performance earning scores of 99-91, 100-90 and 100-90 on the judges’ score cards.

Reyes never came on regardless of how much the Mexican fighter’s corner ‎begged for him to force Bogere to his own right in order to create a left hook opening. This took place for the first half of the fight and not once did Reyes push the action to try and force his man that direction regardless of how emphatic his trainer was. They also wanted him to come over the top of Bogere’s left hand which landed practically every time he threw it. Bogere stared off the 1st Round landing a flush left hook unto his man’s face in the first 5 seconds of the match and never stopped using that shot from that point onward. He kept his jab up and took a commanding lead on the score cards with ease, rarely allowing Reyes to catch up before snapping a 4 or 5 punch combination to fan out any flames that Reyes’ offense could ignite.

By the second half of the 10-round battle, Arturo Reyes’ corner begged him to let his hands go and put his guard up and do something. His once-patient head trainer had asked for movement and technique in the first 15 minutes, now he was barking instructions at the Mexican combatant imploring him to do anything of significance. The harsh stance likely not going over well with Reyes who in the last 4 rounds fought to not lose rather than win. He backed up drastically, lacked any head movement and squared up with Bogere who looked great and his conditioning was stellar. If he wasn’t landing a crisp jab, he doubled it up or threw a multiple punch combination. The Lion roared and took complete control of the match swinging away with wide power shots in the final round putting a stamp on his fabolous outing.

it’s back to the drawing board for Arturo Reyes. As for Sharif Bogere, he told media after the bout “I felt good in there” and that truly sums up his performance. Fans can also feel good about seeing him in action in the near future as he continues climbing the ladder of success and inching towards a goal of a world title in 2018.

KRAEL AND TAKAHASHI STEAL SHOW WITH ACTION MATCH-UP

Cameron Krael (13-12-3) vs. Gaku Takahashi (16-8-1)

(Welterweight Bout – 8 Rounds)

Krael and Gaku handled the co-main event duties for the Sin City Showdown event from Sam’s Town Live ‎in what became an exciting back-and-forth 147-pound fire fight. The los Angeles fighter took his time putting together his offense however, took his time and waited to land something rather than force it as he has done early in his fights during previous performances. He systematically broke down Takahashi peppering him with countless combinations, power shots and uppercuts up the middle while Gaku rallied in the last 30 seconds in hopes of stealing the round in the first 4 stanzas.

Both men traded the exact same hard, looping right hand in Round 5 that drew a big, “WOW!” from the crowd, showing off their solid beards. ‎However, the story of the fight was Takahashi taking way too many clean punches in each round. He came forward happy to bang it out but took to much punishment and the referee was looking closely at him round after round. He made it an entertaining fight yet lacked that game changing power that could’ve put him back in the game or maybe given him some rounds down the stretch. He chased his man too much and didn’t cut the ring off so when Krael planted his feet anf threw a had right hook or left looping shot in landed since he had a target in front of him all night long.

RESULTS: ‎Cameron Krael defeats Gaku Takahashi by unanimous decision with scores of 79-73, 78-74 and 80-72.

Sanjarbek Rakhmanov (10-0-1) vs. Hylon Williams (16-5-1)

(Welterweight Bout – 8 Rounds)

Unbeaten fighter Rakhmanov met Williams for the NABF welterweight title making easy work of his championship opportunity. From the opening bell Rakhmanov did what he does best: march forward relentlessly mixing up his attack from the head to the body back to the head via a solid jabs and deadly left and right hooks.

Houston’s Williams did nothing to make his man respect him as he threw very little shots to slow down Rakhmanov’s pressure for the first minute or so. Shortly thereafter, the Las Vegas fighter had Williams trapped along the ropes and unloaded a quick combination then went back up top to whip some hard power shots at his man inside of the blue corner. A hard left hook landed for Rak‎hmanov as he punished his man; Williams ate the shot which landed on the side of his head and he took a second before willingly dropping to a knee in the corner. He beat the count but went on to absorb tremendous punishment as he made the mistake of backing up and staying with his back along the ropes letting his opponent go to work.

In Round 2 it was more of the same; Rakhmanov marched forward putting the pressure on Williams and for whatever the reason the Texan felt comfortable backing up and gliding on those ropes with his back along them. Rakhmanov let his hands go and landed power punch after power punch, some connected on the inside as he sent his man to the canvas once again. This time Williams almost fell through the bottom rope in a fashion reminiscent to Maskaev vs. Rahman. He beat the count but was in very bad shape. Williams backed up and covered up as Rakhmanov landed at will via hard hooks and solid uppercuts knocking him back into the ring corner prompting the referee to properly step in ‎and call a stop to the action.

RESULTS: Sanjarbek Rakhmanov captures the NABF welterweight title via TKO at (1:10) of Round 2 over hylon Williams.

Angelo Leo (11-0) vs. Jonathan Aguilar (17-7)

(Super Bantamweight Bout – 6 Rounds)

‎The third fight of the night featured a pair of super bantam’s in Leo and Aguilar. The two went to work in the center of the ring showcasing their movement, footwork and hand speed. For the first few minutes Aguilar pressed on looking to land on his man on the inside but, focused too much on that approach while Leo found his distance and landed shots from just outside of range. He displayed a killer overhand shot which he cracked his man with behind a stinging step-in jab then would come over the top with the punch. It was as brutal as it was beautiful and the jab of the Las Vegan found its mark each and every time. Only when he became flat footed and let Aguilar into the match by standing right in front of him was the Mexican warrior able to land his hard right hand which stung Leo’s left eye.

Leo cruised to a points victory without much damage other than a partially swollen left eye ‎that, while it began in about the 4th round didn’t really give him any issues or problems. He hit his angles, jabbed away at his foe and landed that overhand right seemingly at will. ‘El Fenix’ Aguilar chased him in the final couple of rounds letting Angelo Leo catch him coming in with a short uppercut or lightning fast right hook to punctuate his stellar performance.

RESULTS: ‎Angelo Leo remains undefeated beating Jonathan Aguilar via Unanimous Decision with scores of 60-54 all across the board.

Oluwafemi Oyeleye (5-0) vs. Carlos Lozano (8-8)

Light Middleweight Bout – 6 Rounds)

Oyeleye met Los Angeles, California’s Aguilar in an action-packed fight that went a very entertaining 18 minutes. For the first few rounds ‎Lozano was moving forward behind some solid combinations and bending over to put more power on his hooks and left uppercut while Oyeleye stood in the pocket looking to pot shot him and rake his man with looping right hooks and sneaky left hands that found their mark. When he led , Oyeleye was in full control, connecting first and popping his opponent’s head back with a long right jab.

However, when the Los Angelino opted to back up he put himself in a bad spot trying to counter Lozano’s hard work and come-forward approach. ‎Also, Oyeleye had the bad habit of pulling out from the pocket in a straight line or with his guard very low. Lozano landed clean every single time with a overhand right or looping left hand thanks to that opening. Both men had great moments trading punches at close range and giving as good as they got over the course of their 6 round 154lbs battle but in the end Oyeleye’s out put was too accurate and on point to be denied a triumph.

RESULTS: Oluwafemi Oyeleye remains undefeated beating Carlos Lozano via unanimous decision with scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55.

Rolando Romero (4-0) vs. Alex Silva (3-6)

(Lightweight Bout – 4 Rounds)

Unbeaten Romero put his winning streak and 100% KO ratio on the line as he met Barstow, California’ s Silva‎ as the opening bout of the evening and the very first Mayweather Promotions fight of 2018.

Both men wasted no time meeting in the middle of the night in a rough and rugged fight that lacked any real technique or finesse. Silva charged forward like a rugged bull with Romero accepting his role as the matador . The two traded heavy leather at close range and Silva’s triple left hook approach caught Romero flush on the face driving the Las Vegas boxer backward before he retaliated with some short shots and uppercuts on the inside along the roeps.

‎A low blow in the first minute by Romero temporarily slowed down the action as referee Rusell Mora called a stop to the bout. Not too many seconds later Silva was charging toward his man wildly and was caught by a shot coming in that put him on the canvas. Another 15 seconds or so later he again went to the mat as he bulldozed his way into his man’s chest by lunging forward with his chin tucked into his chest and using his head almost as a 3rd boxing glove. Romero caught him with a left hook and Silva collapsed on the mat face-first like a swimmer flopping into an empty pool. Silva beat the count yet again and marched on with a complete disreguard for technique and leaving his jab in the dressing room as he unsteadily trudged towards Romero who landed clean, power punches on his unsteady opponent prompting the referee to call a stop to the bout.

RESULTS: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero remains undefeated as he stops Alex Silva by way of TKO at (2:48) of Round 1
