LONDON – Malta’s reigning WBU International Light Welterweight Champion, ‘Super’ Steve Martin is set to face Ideh Ochuko on the Acourtier Events promoted ‘NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS’ mega show at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London this coming Friday, the 4th October.

Martin, who is coming off five straight stoppage wins – including two Championship bouts, makes a welcome return to the UK, having secured a draw against Callum Wilton back in July last year.

Once again young Steve has been set a tough test, as his opponent on October 4th is Bermondsey, London’s Ideh Ochuko.

Ideh is a tough all action fighter, not too dissimilar in style to Steve, as such a true Battle Royale from the two big punchers is expected on the night.

In his career Ideh has gone the distance with current British Light Welterweight Champion Darren Hamilton, recent Southern Area title challenger Scott Moises, Commonwealth title challenger Eddie Doyle and Central Area Lightweight Champion Scott Cardle, amongst others.

In his last bout Ideh was unlucky in his challenge, against Belfast’s Matthew Wilton, for the International Masters title.

Following a light training session, with Barry Smith at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town, Steve said.

“Barry and me just watched one of his (Ideh Ochuko) fights on YouTube, he likes to fight, this will be a great fight for the fans. I’m ready, fighting people like him is what I want, he’ll be coming to fight, that’s what I want, it’s what the fans want, I can’t wait”.

Coach Barry Smith then added.

“We’ve had a training camp here in the UK, obviously here at the famous TRAD TKO, we’ve been working on everything and have had some great sparring, with the likes of Michael Grant, young talented kids like Dion Reid, Liam Skinkwin and Tommy ‘Da Gunn’ Martin.Everything’s gone pretty good, yeah I’m really happy as a coach, it’s gone really good”.

“I’ve seen a bit of him (Ideh Ochuko) honestly he brings it, he’s going to bring his A-game, we know that, but we’re prepared for him and Steve Martin will be victorious on the night, I believe”.

Steve Martin versus Ideh Ochuko will feature on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted ‘NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS’ mega event, headlined by Jennifer Retzke versus Angel McKenzie World title clash, at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on Friday, 4th October 2013.

Tickets, priced £35 (Standard Seated) and £60 (Ringside) are available by calling Steve’s coach Barry Smith on 07407 499714.
