LOS ANGELES (April 11, 2016) – The Belasco Theater will be hosting perennial Welterweight contender and former WBC Continental America’s / NABF Welterweight champion, Jesus ”Renuente” Soto Karass, 28-10-3, 18KOs taking on the hard-as-nails Yoshihiro Kamegai, 26-3-1, 23KOs this Friday night, in what is easily the biggest fight of their very popular LA FIGHT CLUB series promoted by Golden Boy Promotions since it’s inception a couple of year ago.

Karass will be facing a very similar fighter in Kamegai, as neither fighter likes to backpedal, most of the time they have one gear—forward. Throwing punches in bunches and although Karass edges the Japanese fighter by one inch-reach, (both fighters enjoy long reach as is) they both prefer to get on the inside and wage war.

You can be sure this fight will be a war, as tickets have been sold -out, and more have been released (see down below for further information)

Karass, as gate-keeper of sorts, he has seen lows and highs, with a peculiar loss, making him a boxing star as it were, as the Los Mochis fighter took on Marcos Maidana with the vacant WBA Welterweight International title on the line back in 2012, Karass went to war against the hard-hitting Maidana, after seven torrid rounds, Maidana came up on top, but it would be Karass enjoying a new found popularity, as he was mobbed at the MGM Grand main lobby, with crowds of fans looking for an autograph and photos after the bout.

Since then, Karass has gone 2-2 in his last four starts, with his popularity ever present, and looking to capture another title shot with a win over Kamegai.

Although Kamegai has spent most of his career fighting in Japan, he has made the most of his appearances in the States, giving great accounts of himself in loses, (Johan Perez, Robert Guerrero and Alfonso Gomez) stopping Oscar Godoy in 2014 and now looking to put a feather in his cap, should he get past Karass.
