“Gavilan” Garcia Looks to Finish 2013 with a Bang!

(San Diego, CA) –  Bobby D Presents, the premier San Diego based promoter, returns one more time for 2013 onThursday, November 21st, to present yet again another night of professional boxing in San Diego, “America’s Finest City”. Led by President Bobby DePhilippis, 2012 California boxing hall of fame inductee, the “San Diego Fights” fight cards are known for their high level of competitiveness, fighter skill and above all, entertainment. After a successful run at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel, Bobby D Presents has secuted a new, more centralized venue at the Crowne Plaza Hanalei Hotel located at the famed Hotel Ci rcle just north of downtown. The last installment of the year of their successful running boxing series will be no exception as it will mark the return to the ring of local favorite Aaron “Gavilan” Garcia (12-3-2, 3KOs) as he faces a stern test in Kevin “Hostile” Hoskins (7-2, 5KOs) of Moreno Valley, CA, in an explosive six rounder in the super featherweight division.

Aaron “Gavilan” Garcia of Vista, CA

Garcia, one of the most decorated amateurs to come out of the county, is on a hot streak with two impressive wins so far this year. In his first last May, after a two years of inactivity, Garcia stopped Cesar Garcia of Ensenada with a crushing body blow in the first round. Not known for his power, it was mentioned that “Gavilan” broke the south of the border fighter’s rib with a left hook/upper cut to the mid-section. In his next fight two months later, Garcia went the much needed rounds with a durable Johnny Frazier winning a shut out unanimous decision in a four rounder. In Hoskins, Garcia will face a tough brawler who is no stranger to San Diego. His last time here last February, Hoskins became the spoiler and stopped previously undefeated Eduardo Rivera in the first round. Rivera, who at the time was 9-0-1. 3KOs), was no match for Hoskins when they both began to exchange heavy leather in the center of the ring. Hoskins was able to land a picture perfect left hook the chin that put Rivera out for commission. Rivera has not fought since. Nothing less than fireworks are expected in the Garcia-Hoskins match up.

In the co-main event, “Superman” Joshua Marks (8-5, 8KOs) of El Centro, CA, will look to get back on the win column when he puts up his fists against Poti, Georgia’s Levan “The Wolf” Ghvamichava (10-1, 8KOs) in a scheduled light welterweight eight rounds. Marks, who has fought twice in San Diego, will have a stern test against Ghvamichava who is suffered his first pro loss in his last fight. Touted as the next best thing to come out of the former Soviet Union, Ghvamichava fell to unheralded Alberto Herrera in a split decision last July. The hard hitting Marks stopped Oscar Godoy in one of the best local fights in San Diego back in early 2012 and his last fight, he was stopped by Bobby D Presents’ Emmanuel Robles. Now Marks has vowed to not only upset the apple cart for Ghvamichava but redeem himself in front of the San Diego crowd.

Featured in very special attraction, the ultra-popular David Barragan (6-0-1, 3KOs) will put his undefeated record on the line when he takes on the much more experienced Arthur Brambila (9-19-1, 4KOs) in his first scheduled six rounder. Barragan took fight of the night honors in his last performance when he defeated former Canadian amateur standout Matt Dumais. Barragan dropped Dumais in the first round and when it looked like he was headed for a quick night, Dumais turned up the heat and turned the super welterweight four rounder into a war. Brambila is looking to ruin the party with his experience that he has gained by facing up and coming prospect Jonathan Chicas, former world champions Antonio DeMarco and Mike Alavaro among others.

Also scheduled are Prince “Tiger” Smalls (1-0-1) against Luis “Chapo” Vargas (1-5-1) in a featherweight four, super bantamweight “Smokin'” Joe Perez (4-0, 3KOs) against Tijuana’s Victor Capaceta (3-4-2, 1KO) and his pro debut, light heavyweight Tony Johnson versus the dreaded TBA.
