Bisping-on-Jon-Jones-CaptureLOS ANGELES – UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian and guest host Michael Bisping catch up with Cody Garbrandt. Plus, Karyn Bryant adds reports.

UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian on Jon Jones’ situation: “I have conflicting thoughts. I feel like the cop was giving Jon a hard time. His approach could have been different. If he was drag racing, where was the other car? However, if you’re on probation and you know if you go through a stop sign you can end up back in jail, why is he still taking that risk? Take an Uber or get a driver, but don’t take that risk. A traffic violation is not a big deal, but put it in context with everything else Jon has done and it is.”

UFC TONIGHT guest host Michael Bisping on Jones staying out of trouble: “Jones has a history of getting into trouble with the law almost always behind the wheel. Stick to the laws. If you do get pulled over, don’t speak to the officer like that. That’s not going to help anything. He’s got a lot of negative attention on him and he’s feeling somewhat victimized. I have sympathy for him. I don’t think he’s a bad person, he just makes a catalog of bad errors time and time again.”

Bisping on Jose Aldo fighting Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight belt at UFC 200: “I’m happy seeing Edgar get a shot at the belt. It’s not the full belt, but in my opinion it’s as good as the real one. He took out Chad Mendez in fabulous fashion. Now with Conor fighting again at another weight, that means Frankie would have had to wait even longer for that shot. Now he gets to fight for the interim belt.”

Florian on Aldo vs. Edgar being booked: “There’s definitely been a debate on who should get to fight Conor for the featherweight belt. Now both get a chance at the belt.”

Bisping on Diaz vs. McGregor: “You’ve got to respect Conor. He’d be forgiven for moving back down to featherweight, but he wants to get revenge. Is it the smartest thing? I don’t know, but I will pay to see it. I’m very excited for the fight.”

Florian on McGregor vs. Diaz: “It makes sense, but I would have preferred to see it at 155 – that makes more sense, not 170.”

Cody Garbrandt on if his fight against Thomas Almeida puts him in contention: “Yes. He’s undefeated, I’m undefeated. He has knockout finishes and so do I. I had a vision quest and I wanted to fight John Lineker and asked Sean Shelby for Lineker, Almeida, then a title shot. It’s a race to the title. We’re both young in our careers. If I knock him out, he can rematch me for title and we could have a trilogy in the future like Gatti and Ward.”

Garbrandt on why he wins the fight: “I’m the better martial artist. I’m more well rounded in wrestling, grappling and striking. I hit harder than him. I’m faster. I create angles. He’s more linear. My pace and pressure, speed and power will be better.”

Garbrandt on Almeida saying he’ll finish him in two rounds: “If he was super confident, he’d say he’ll finish me in one round. His chin’s not going to hold up. I hit way harder than anybody that he’s faced. He won’t handle the forward pressure. When I find that chin of his, he’s definitely going to sleep.”

Garbrandt on where he’s been training: “I’m in Sacramento (at Team Alpha Male) for this camp. Justin Buchholz, Danny Castillo and Chris Holdsworth have stepped up to help as coaches on the team. It’s been great.”

Garbrandt on if he’s talked to his former teammate TJ Dillashaw: “I’ve spoken with him one time since he’s left the team, but I’ve cut my ties with him. If you’re not with us, you’re against us. He’s in my division and ranked ahead of me and was a title holder. Whoever is in the way of me getting the title, I’m willing to fight. TJ is one of them. Line them up and I’ll knock them all down.”
