Video: Peter Quillin: “If Canelo wants to move up I would whup his #$%”
WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin was at the MGM Casino in Las Vegas this past Saturday, May 3rd 2014, to witness Marcos Maidana and Floyd Mayweather battle it out for 12 rounds. Mayweather, who is now the WBC and WBA Welterweight World Champion, prevailed with a hard-fought majority decision victory over Maidana in the main event of The Moment, SHOWTIME PPV.
Upon the completion of the post press conference we would talk to Garcia and get his thoughts on the bout.
“The fight was like a scary movie, you’re on the edge of your seat and its phenomenal to watch it.”
Quillin would also give us his thoughts on fighting the winner of the upcoming bout between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara. “I won’t fight another Cuban, my dad is from Cuba, he came here for opportunities just like every other Cuban behind him.”
“[If Canelo won] I would whup Canelo’s ass, but as far as Cubans, my mom said if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything. It’s just something I don’t feel like I want to do; fight another Cuban. Canelo is another story; let them get through that fight and we’ll see who comes out the winner. I’ll be happy if Lara wins the fight and I would take on Canelo if he wins the fight.
