On April 16, 2022, at the AT&T stadium also known as “Jerry’s World” in Arlington Texas; hometown fighter Errol “The Truth” Spence will face Yordenis Ugas in a Unification Bout for the three Welterweight titles which include WBA, IBF, and WBC. With Spence’s recent eye surgery many people are questioning whether we are going to see the same fighter from before. There were a lot of speculations about Spence after he got in his tragic car accident in 2019 but redeemed himself after his recovery when he got in the ring and beat Danny Garcia in a one-sided fight. Danny Garcia is popular among boxing fans with his best work in the super lightweight division. Every time he stepped up in competition at Welterweight, he came up short. Two out of his last three fights Spence has been against smaller Welterweights including Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia, but that does not mean that Spence has not had quality wins over solid Welterweights like Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, and Lamont Peterson to name a few.

Ugas will be the most dangerous fighter he’s fought since Shawn Porter! Ugas has also had his fair share of solid Welterweight opponents like Abel Ramos and Omar Figueroa. What really marked Ugas’s career was when he filled in for Spence with a 11-day notice; a fight against the living legend-eight division-world champion Manny Pacquiao. Ugas defeated Manny Pacquiao which soon after lead Pacquiao to announce his retirement. Spence and Ugas have one opponent they have both faced and that is Shawn Porter which both fighters have had close fights with. Spence knocking Porter down was the difference in the close decision that led to Spence’s victory. Ugas not getting the knockdown counted in his match against Porter caused some controversy as the public believed it should have been counted towards the final decision of the fight. Ugas was defeated by Porter, however it was highly speculated as most viewer and insiders thought Ugas should have won.

Fight fans do not want to miss this! The odds have Spence as a good favorite, but in my opinion, I believe this one will be close between a 60/40 to 50/50 fight. The winner of this fight will be set up to go into a Mega Undisputed Bout with Terrence “Bud” Crawford.
