This saturday night at the Arena Quequi, Playa del Carmen in Quintana Roo, México, Golden Boy Promotions undefeated super-featherweight prospect Miguel Flores (12-0, 7 KOs) battles Jorge “Escorpión” Rodríguez (15-6-0, 6 KO’s) in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Born in Michoacán de Ocampo, México, Flores, now fighting out of Houston Texas, returns home to put his undefeated record on the line. Fighting in his first eight round bout, Flores knows he’s in a tough fight as he prepares to defeat Rodríguez.

“We both made weight now it’s time to see who wants it more,” said Flores. “I know I did everything possible to be prepared for this fight and I’m going to prove it when I step in the ring with Rodríguez. He’s fought some tough guys but he’s never faced a fighter like me. I’m coming to extend on my undefeated record and do it impressively”.

“I want to thank Golden Boy Promotions for giving me the opportunity to fight in México” Flores continued. “”I’m happy that Golden Boy matchmakers Eric Gómez and Robert Díaz are building my career and I’m looking forward to a great 2014 after this fight. I want to prove to the boxing world that I’m a future world champion”.

Thompson vs. Chávez, a 10-round junior welterweight bout, is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Cancún Boxing de Pepe Gómez and sponsored by Corona and Periódico QueQui.
