TOP TALENT TOMMY LANGFORD SIGNS WITH FRANK WARREN

TOMMY LANGFORDFrank Warren’s newest signing Tommy Langford is excited to join the Hall of Fame Promoter and take his career to the next level.

Unbeaten Langford, from Bideford in Devon and now based in Birmingham, signed promotional terms with Warren last week, and will shortly make his debut for Queensberry Promotions.

A former England international, Langford left the amateurs with a top record of 86 wins from 106 fights, winning University titles, Haringey Box Cup titles and National finals.  Two stand-out names on his amateur C.V are wins over Callum Smith and Anthony Fowler.

Despite taking part in the Olympic ‘Box Offs’ for the Team GB Olympic squad he was on the wrong end of a debatable decision, but continued to box internationally for England and captained the team in his final year.

The 24-year-old is coached by Midlands master trainer Tom Chaney who guided top talent  Frankie Gavin through a highly decorated amateur career to winning the British and Commonwealth Welterweight titles in the pro ranks.

Langford had perviously sparred with Gavin as an amateur at England camps and then went on to study for a Sport and Exercise Science degree at Birmingham University enabling him to train at Chaney’s Hall Green gym.  After graduating with an Honorary Degree, Langford worked as a personal trainer and furthered his education by becoming a qualified nutritionist.

Turning professional in September 2012, middleweight Langford has so far racked up an unbeaten seven fight record with one stoppage.  He has built up a large fans with his exciting performance and is looking forward to the next chapter in his career with Warren and his fights set to be televised on the Channel Of Champions, BoxNation.

Langford said, “I’m really happy to have joined Frank Warren as I believe that he has the best boxing promotional organisation out there and will do a top job on me.  You only have to look at Frank’s track record and see who he’s promoted and what they’ve achieved with him like Ricky Hatton and Naseem Hamed to name a few.  I’ve seen how well Frankie Gavin’s been guided and looked after and I knew that Frank was the promoter to be with.  I’m looking forward to the exposure on the big shows and on BoxNation I believe that I’ve got the natural talent and work-ethic to make it to the top.  Coupled with Frank’s experience and backing there’s no reason why I can’t.”

Chaney said, “I have high hopes for Tom and I’m delighted for him that he’s joined Frank Warren.  Inside the ring he’s a very talented fighter with a strong commitment to training, he cuts no corners and has a burning ambition to reach the top of his sport.  Outside of the ring he’s a well mannered and educated person who’s a delight to be involved with.  Working alongside Frankie has brought him on leaps and bounds and he’ll just keep getting better and better.”

Warren added, “It’s a pleasure to welcome Tommy to Queensberry Promotions and I look forward to working with him.  He comes with an excellent recommendation from Tom Chaney, who I hold in high regard, from his work with Frankie Gavin.  He’s got a great amateur record and of course the wins over Callum Smith and Anthony Fowler are very impressive.  He’s unbeaten in the professionals and this year he’ll be busy as I look to get him into a position to challenge for his first title.”
