Stevenson vs. Bellew heats up in Quebec
The final press conference was held Wednesday for Saturday’s attractive HBO card at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, featuring two light heavyweight world championship fights. Things got testy between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (22-1, 19 KOs) and mandatory challenger Tony Bellew (20-1-1, 12 KOs) after the 6’2 Bellew’s references to the 5’11 Stevenson as a “little man,” “midget” and “dwarf.” Stevenson responded that Chad Dawson is 6’3 and he “planted him” in 76 seconds.
Adonis Stevenson: I know you are dreaming to be world champion. You will never fight a man and ‘Superman’ like me. I will knock you out cold. I am going to knock you out.
Tony Bellew: Alls I want to do is nail him with every single thing I’ve got. Whatever it takes and whatever I’ve got to do, I’m gonna do it and on Saturday night I am going to be world champion. Adonis Stevenson is getting beaten up and manhandled. It’s as simple as that. I don’t care what he brings. You all go on about he’s Superman, he’s this and that. The fact of the matter is he has been knocked out by a guy who has lost 20 fights.
