Stacked undercard for Championship Fight Night including pro debut of Anthony Sims Jr.

CINCINNATI (Nov. 28, 2013) – While the main event of “Championship Fight Night” presented by R&R Promotions pits local favorite Brandon “Untouchable” Bennett in a WBC U.S. title fight against undefeated Canadian Roody Pierre-Paul, the undercard is stacked full of experienced boxers, contenders, and up-and-comers. One fighter, however, will be making his pro-debut in what looks to be a promising career to follow.

Anthony Sims Jr., an 18-year-old amateur standout from Indianapolis, is now joining the professional ranks and will be getting his first taste of prize fighting against Joel Baxter Saturday at the Duke Energy Center.

Sims carries a 118-13-10 amateur record and has been setting records since 2005 when he was 10. Among those records are Junior Golden Glove, Junior Silver Glove, and Junior Olympic championships. Sims also competed in the 2012 Olympic Trials in his debut in the open division.

The sky is the limit for the light heavyweight youngster and it all gets started this weekend.

In addition to Sims, Aaron Pryor Jr., son of former junior welterweight champion Aaron Pryor, will be appearing in the co-feature bout. Pryor Jr., 35, is riding a two fight win streak and is looking to maintain that momentum against Kurtiss Colvin, a 9-1 power puncher with 8 knockouts. At a tall and lean 6-foot-4 Pryor always presents a difficult challenge for his opponents. This fight will be contested at the super middleweight division.

William Jackson, 24, is a welterweight contender from the Queen City who will be contending for a WBC U.S. title as well. Jackson trains at the same gym as world champion Adrien Broner and under trainer Mike Stafford. At 10-2-1 Jackson is looking to deliver a lights out performance against undefeated Chris Rudd (12-0, 8 KOs) of Covington, Tenn.

2008 U.S. Olympian Raynell Williams will also be appearing in his third professional fight Saturday. Williams is a slick southpaw from Cleveland who fights with poise. Much in the same as Sims, Williams has a high ceiling and has much to prove. His opponent is yet to be finalized.

The undercard features even more local Cincinnati fighters such as heavyweights David Long (12-2-2) and Danny Calhoun (2-0), super featherweight Devonte Allen (5-1), and promising welterweight Jonathan Steele (2-0), a former U.S. marine.
