Saturday’s WBC Heavyweight Title Fight: Stiverne-Wilder Tale Of The Tape

1-17TALEOFTHETAPEWBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs), of Las Vegas, will defend his title against unbeaten knockout specialist and mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Ala., this Saturday, Jan. 17. The potentially explosive bout between the two big-punching heavyweights will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and be televised live onSHOWTIME® (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).

 

The event is co-promoted by Don King Productions and Golden Boy Promotions and will feature crowd-pleasing WBC Super Bantamweight World Champion Leo “Terremoto” Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16 KOs), of Los Angeles, putting his title and unbeaten record on the line in a 12-round bout against Jesus “Estrella” Ruiz (33-5-5, 22 KOs), of Sonora, Mexico.

 

Promising world-ranked undefeated junior welterweight Amir “Young Master” Imam (15-0, 13 KOs) will face Fidel “The Atrisco Kid” Maldonado Jr. (19-2, 16 KOs) in a 10-round fight for the WBC Continental America’s 140-pound title.
