sam watson-chris robinson-hustlerbosscomBoxeomundial.com caught up with Sam Watson and asked him a few questions about potential opponents for Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the fight at hand this Saturday at the MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada as Adrien “The Problem” Broner takes on Shawn “Showtime” Porter in a highly anticipated mega showdown that’s sure to make a “fan friendly” environment for all those in attendance live on PBC on NBC.

Boxeomundial.com: “Is this a must win situation for both fighters?”

Sam Watson: “It’s a great chance for both of them. Both lost one fight, both of them have fantastic records. One guy tough, one guy a smooth boxer”

Boxeomundial.com: “Going into the NBC showcase how important is it that both fighters give the fans an entertaining fight?”

Sam Watson: “It won’t be boring, it will be a great fight. Broner is slick and Porter is tough. Porter is going to do what he always does. Go to the body, go to the head. He’s going to swing accurate. It’s going to be a great fight. This might be fight of the year. It’s that kind of fight because Adrien is going to fight back”

Boxeomundial.com: “Where did the Catchweight come from and was it an important part of the negotiations to make the fight happen?” (Adrien Broner vs Shawn Porter is being contested at a catchweight of 144lbs, 3lbs below the welterweight limit)

Sam Watson: “That’s good for both fighters. They’ll both be on weight and let’s do it. This is going to be one of the greatest fights this June 20th. Both of them lost, that’s what makes this great. Both fighters lost”

Boxeomundial.com: “Did you see Aron Martinez vs Robert Guerrero and what are your thoughts on that?”

Sam Watson: “That was a great fight. It was a draw to me. Guerrero probably edged it to me but it was a great fight. When he got knocked down I thought he was going down for real but he got up and fought back”

Boxeomundial.com: “Don’t you think the decision should have gone to the Martinez? The fans felt Aron Martinez won”

Sam Watson: “Martinez was the winner because he fought that great fight. He lost the fight but he fought a great fight. Nobody thought he would fight that long and it would be that tough of a fight. He did a great job. Hats off to him but I think that Guerrero hit him with some shots, did the right thing to win”

Boxeomundial.com: “So Mayweather is suppose to fight in September. Is there any names out there that have been thrown around?”

Sam Watson: “Not yet. They’ll be getting it pretty soon. They haven’t heard anything. We’ve been going to the basketball games lately. The NBA Finals up in Oakland. He says he’s fighting though, hasn’t said who yet”

Boxeomundial.com: “What do you think of the potentials of Amir Khan landing the fight?”

Sam Watson: “That would be great. Amir Khan and Floyd would be a fantastic fight.”

Boxeomundial.com: “Do you think Amir Khan vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. in England is a good chance?”

Sam Watson: “Floyd always fights in Vegas so I don’t know. One of these days he’ll be moving but right now all of his fights are at the MGM” (Floyd Mayweather Jr. has fought exclusively in the MGM since becoming a PPV start attraction)
