R&R Promotions bringing boxing back to Fayetteville Independence Day weekend

CINCINNATI (June 14, 2013) – R&R Promotions is proud to announce the return of boxing to Fayetteville, N.C., for the first time in since 1999. The big event will be taking place at the Crown Center Independence Day weekend on July 5, and in keeping with the patriotic feel of the holiday will be featuring two former members of our nation’s Armed Forces and several U.S. Olympians.

In addition to Andrew Williams, CEO of R&R Promotions, this special event would not be possible without the collaboration and involvement of Fayetteville mayor Anthony G. Chavonne, the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, and the Fayetteville Tourism Bureau.

The “Independence Explosion” fight card will be headlined by Cincinnati’s three-time U.S. Olympian Rau’shee Warren who will be defending his 4-0 record in a bantamweight bout. The co-main event will feature Dominic Breazeale, the heavyweight representative of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team. The power punching Breazeale is 5-0 (5 KOs).

Additionally, as home to one of the nation’s largest military installations, Fort Bragg, it is fitting that the event will be highlighted by Jamel Herring, who represented the U.S. in two different capacities as a U.S. Marine and 2012 U.S. Olympic team member, and former U.S. Marine Jonathan Steele.

Super middleweight Aaron Pryor Jr. will also be representing Cincinnati in Fayetteville appearing on the card against an opponent to be named. More fighters will be announced shortly including some of North Carolina’s top talent.

As part of the festivities, R&R Promotions boxer and two-time world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner will be on hand as a special guest host for the night. International Boxing Hall of Famer Aaron Pryor will also be in attendance greeting fans and signing autographs.
