Robert Garcia: “In this fight Mayweather is going to suffer, he’s going to be in a street fight”

Yesterday afternoon Team Maidana made their grand arrival to the MGM Grand Hotel Lobby to officially kick off fight week activities leading up to this Saturday night’s SHOWTIME PPV® event. Afterwards they would speak  to the press about their fight on Saturday Night.

“I think I can knock him out, but I also think I can beat him by decision,” Maidana would say when asked if he felt he needed a knock out to beat Mayweather. “Mayweather doesn’t throw a lot of punches, he throws one or two shots and I’m going to be throwing punches every minute of every round.”

For his part, Robert Garcia, trainer of Marcos Maidana, feels that Maidana will get Mayweather in a street fight, something Garcia says Mayweather has not had to endure through out his career.

“In this fight Mayweather is going to suffer. He is going to have someone in top of him, giving him a hard time. It’s going to be awkward, it’s going to be difficult. It’s going to be like a street fight, and I don’t think he’s been in a street fight before,” Robert Garcia would say

The problem with Robert Garcia is he has no more credibility at this point. How many times has he promised to knock out Pacquiao? First it was the margarito fight. Then in the rios fight he promised to retire Pacquiao but look what happened? This guy has no credibility. who will take him seriuosly? Nobody. LOL.

If street fighting technique will be used by Maidana against Mayweather, I think he does not need anymore Robert Garcia in his corner. Anybody can do that even street children. What kind of a coach is Robert Garcia.

I think if Ariza can give Maidana some of the same stuff he used to give Pacquiao back in the day, Maidana might have a chance

@The Truth – I can’t believe you just mentioned Pacquiao! What has he got to do with Mayweather vs Maidana?? No doubt you are one of those Money nut huggers who think exactly the same as him, still intimidated by Pacman! . . LMFAO

      • The Truth says:

My point has to do with Ariza, who worked with Pacquiao and is now working Maidana. If Maidana can get some the old Pacquaio spinach, he might have a chance in a street fight. Otherwise he is done

        Comprende?

        • Fpunster says:

with or without ariza. there is no comparison. it is like comparing a ferrari to a volkwagon. Maidana is so slow he will never catch floyd. Floyd will KO maidana before he gets close. Pacquiao is the answer to Floyd. A sharp, fast, heavy puncher and more important is heart.

    • Don Q says:

I agree, I think this fight is going to be boring, but if Ariza can work someone of his old Pacquiao magic we might have a fight Saturday. Good point bro

  4. Phil Borda says:

    The only way for
the fans to force a Pacquiao v Mayweather fight is by NOT PATRONIZING ALL his
fights. I love boxing and I don’t mind spending my hard earned money to
be able to see a good fight but until Mayweather agrees to fight Pacquiao, I
will BOYCOTT ALL his fights hoping that Mayweather and all the people around
him realize how important it is to a boxing fan like me for that fight to
come to fruition. Unless and until Mayweather makes that fight, and
unless and until the media has a way of convincing Mayweather to fight
Pacquiao, I believe that the media, being in a position of influence, has the
responsibility to exhort the public to BOYCOTT.
