His chin let him down with 24 of his 46 losses coming by way of KO/TKO

A football and baseball standout at High School, Morgan turned pro in 1954 after a successful amateur career with an 18-2 record as a featherweight, including Youngstown and Cleveland Golden Gloves Championships in 1953 and 1954. He also won an AAU national featherweight title in 1953. Colleges considered him too small for football or basketball so he quit school to become a boxer. After he completed his boxing career he became a trainer and had his own gym in Los Angeles before dying from liver cancer in 1987. He was  posthumously inducted into the Californian Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005.
