OCAMPO AIMING FOR A FILIPINO DOUBLE WITH PACQUIAO

Jose Ocampo says he’ll defeat WBO World Lightweight Champion Ricky Burns and Manny Pacquiao will beat Juan Manuel Marquez to make it a Filipino double.

Pacquiao takes on Marquez for a fourth time in Las Vegas this Saturday and a week later on Saturday 15th December Ocampo challenges Burns for his title at the ExCeL London.

Ocampo, 23, was born in the Sarangani province where Pacquiao is the current Congressman and he reckons his countryman will beat the Mexican great for a third time.

“Manny has got a tough fight, Marquez is still a big threat, but I can see him winning convincingly this time,” Said Ocampo.

“I will be watching the fight before traveling to London to finish preparations for my fight with Burns later that week,”

“I hope that Pacquiao does it and I’m sure he will, it would be fantastic for our country for Pacquiao to win and for me to win the world title,”

“I’ll be coming to London with only one thing on my mind and that is to win the title.”

Ocampo added that he would throw a spanner in the works of any plans the Scotsman has of facing American star Adrien Broner.

If Burns comes through against Ocampo then he could be looking a unification showdown with new the WBC World champion next year, but Ocampo says that won’t happen.

He added, “It’s disrespectful that Burns is looking ahead of me next Saturday when I’ll give him the hardest fight of his life,”

“He will not beat me and the Broner fight will not happen.  If anything I’ll be the one to face Broner.”

Burns v Ocampo headlines a massive six-title card that features George Groves defending his Commonwealth Super-Middleweight title against Glen Johnson in the chief support; plus Commonwealth Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders defends his title against Nick Blackwell with the vacant British title also on the line; unbeaten Bradley Skeete challenges Southern Area Welterweight Champion Chas Symonds for his title and WBO International Cruiserweight Champion Tony Conquest defends against Neil Dawson.
