Mexican fighter Miguel ‘Micky’ Román is the official challenger of the WBC super-featherweight champion Francisco ‘Bandido’ Vargas, but Roman will wait for the full recovery of the champion to face him.

This was made clear by the WBC president, Mauricio Sulaimán, who commented in the weekly press meeting (Martes de Café),   that the WBC will respect the status of ‘Mickey’, but the body will take care of the integrity of Vargas too.

“The WBC wants to minimize the risk in the fights and give due respect to the champion, the only thing that does not change here, is that the official challenger is ‘Mickey’ Roman,” said Sulaimán Saldívar.

After the fight that Francisco ‘El Bandido’ Vargas held to defend his title against Orlando Salido, the WBC ordered him to rest for three months, but surely he will not return to the ring in 2016.

After the words of Román, who assured that he is only waiting for the date to face the champ, Mauricio Sulaimán was pleased.

“I’m proud that Mickey says he wants to fight with the champion, it would be an interesting bout between two Mexican warriors,” he concluded.

The mexican promoter, Oswaldo Küchle, who led Promociones del Pueblo, is willing to carry out such a combat as soon as possible in mexican territory, and said he had all the resources and sponsorships to make this event a success.
