Marcos Villasana Jr. has been counting down the days to face argentino Jorge Rodriguez in his second title defence.

Villasana and Rodriguez will meet Saturday night at Centro de Convenciones in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. The 12-round lightweight bout will air live on Televisa throughout Mexico, beginning at 10:30 p.m. CT.

The bout will be Villasana’s second defense of the WBC latino lightweight title won last May against the famous “boxing showman” Nery “El Pantera” Saguilan.

Villasana (20-6, 11 knockouts) has won his last five bouts straight Including when he won Saguilán the championship. The son of former WBC featherweight titleholder Marcos Villasana Sr., the 25-year-old fighter believes he can become world champion in the near future.

“I’m very happy with this fight, I know that Rodriguez can be very dangerous, that’s why I prepared as never, I want to become a world champion as soon as possible. I have an obligation to the people of my hometown (Acapulco).”

Rodríguez (21-12-1, 3 KOs) won by KO in round 4 over Walter Miguel Gazan in his last bout on november 4 in Argentina.

Opening the “Sabados de Box” broadcast will be a 10-round women’s junior flyweight clash between Lourdes “Pequeña Lulú” Juarez (MEX) against Noemí “No-No”.
