Juan Reyes Earns KO Win at Thompson Boxing’s “Night of Champions” Private Event

Super Bantamweight Juan Reyes, left, notched a KO win over Heriberto Delgado

ORANGE, Calif. (March 10, 2015) – In the “Night of Champions” main event, the crowd pleasing
Juan Reyes (12-1-3, 2 KOs) of Fontana, Calif. knocked out Heriberto Delgado (11-2, 6 KOs) of Tijuana, Mex. in the fifth round. The pair of super bantamweights routinely exchanged combinations, but it was Reyes that landed the heavier shots.

Reyes was his typical self, coming out aggressive and throwing punches from every imaginable angle. Delgado did his best to fend off the constant attack, but Reyes never let up.

“Its just business as usual for me,” said the 25-year-old Reyes. “Every win feels great, but this one is a little sweeter because it came via knockout.”

In the co-main event, bantamweight Carlos Carlson (17-0, 11 KOs) stopped Jesus Serrano (6-2-2, 5 KOs) in the third round to remain undefeated.  After a sluggish start, Carlson turned up the heat in the third. He hurt Serrano with a left hook to the body and was able to walk him into a corner where he continued to land heavy shots.  Serrano was done by the :53 mark.

Junior lightweight Erick Ituarte (10-1-1, 2 KOs) used non-stop pressure to notch his tenth professional win over Erick Aguirre (4-6-1, 2 KOs). Ituarte set the tone early by boxing Aguirre into corners. In the sixth and final round, Ituarte staggered Aguirre with a powerful flurry. At that point he was thinking knockout, but Aguirre covered up and survived the round. Ituarte took home a unanimous decision win (59-55 x 3).

Opening the “Night of Champions” event were heavyweights Roy McCrary (4-3, 3 KOs) andGiovanni Sarran (6-9, 1 KO). McCrary, based in Las Vegas, won via unanimous decision (39-37, 40-36, 39-37).

A portion of the proceeds from “Night of Champions” benefited the Junior Foundation, a charity organization that works to meet the needs of families affected by childhood cancer.
