Daniel Jacobs looked stellar in a twelfth round stoppage of Caleb Truax. The Brooklyn native’s superior hand speed and lateral movement were too much for a game Truax, who had his moments. Jacobs frustrated Truax with elusive movement complimented by a crisp jab.

The action culminated in an offensive onslaught from Jacobs in the second half of the final stanza. Jacobs found his opening and teed off on Truax, who’s offense had ceased at this point, en route to a stoppage at 2:12 of the twelfth round.

A strong showing from Jacobs enhancing his name amongst the middleweight division’s elite, and figures to set up a potential Brooklyn showdown with Peter Quillin.

In the main event Badou Jack took advantage of the opportunity at hand and outworked WBC champion Anthony Dirrell. The fighter’s camps had fueled a fire around the matchup with verbal jawing throughout fight week, but on this night Jack’s bite was a little stronger than Direll’s bite.

The contest took on a methodical trend early on, but that pace gave way to Jack’s stalking, pressure offense in the second half of the bout. Dirrell’s only answer was to tie jack up, which only resulted in additional inside and body work from the Swedish super middleweight.

Jack took a majority decision win, with one scorecard a draw, and become the third world champion produced by Mayweather promotions.
