Impact Boxing in talks with several major promoters

Shortly after Impact Boxing successful debut on February 1st it was announced that their second installment would take place on March 7th. Boxing fans will have to wait a couple more weeks as the next card will likely be pushed to last Saturday of March or the first week of April. The first promotional company to land a deal with Impact was Tapia Promotions which will continue to lead Impact in their in house promotions.

The network has grown at a very rapid pace so they took a couple weeks to regroup with the official launch of the new reality show Stars and Champions that took place on Friday. More importantly though, the full build out of next year’s 48 week fight series is in the works and talks are underway with the leaders in the industry. Steven Marcano, the programming partner of Impact, was is Detroit last week with the network’s top brass Bishop Jackson, Royal Jackson and Terry Arnold to discuss the hard roll out for June.

Everything to date has just been a soft launch to stand as a proof of concept. The network is planning it’s next decade and there are major plans that do not just include sports but original programming of reality shows, sitcoms and theatrical releases.

Impact founder Bishop Wayne T Jackson laid out his plan 3 weeks ago on a news show for the network and while there will still be a few updates, the plan calls for Royal Jackson to secure the right agency for content. The plan is for the 86 million home network to raise 9 figures in their quest to accomplish all of their goals. This plan includes some of boxing’s biggest names to not only air fights but to create new and cutting edge content.

Talks are already in motion with Lou Dibella to air his fights and based on Steven Marcano’s relationship with legendary promoter Don King, there have also been discussions about a possible DKP event. Next week Marcano plans to open discussions with Kathy Duva’s Main Events and Golden Boy. Marcano also said that he will complete the deal with Roy Jones Jr. immediately. Marcano stated that Roy is a major piece in the Impact puzzle.

Marcano makes it clear these are early conversations but he does plan to air DiBella’s March 27 card if we can finish the deal by end of next week. He also states, “everyone in the industry knows me and Don have always had a friendship so we would love to figure something out and as far as Duva and Golden boy what can I say, they are industry leaders and hopefully we can work towards something that makes financial sense.”

Marcano plans to meet with his agents next week to help layout a support plan to assist in the plan for Impact to become the biggest African American network in the country.

Impact Boxing is aggressively working towards signing a few major prospects and the network’s roster will be announced next week.
