Cormier To Jones: “You want what I’ve got. It’s not happening.”

Los Angeles – On UFC TONIGHT, hosts Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier recap last weekend’s UFC 211 and interview bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and the popular Donald Cowboy Cerrone about their upcoming UFC 213 fights. Plus, Karyn Bryant adds reports.

UFC TONIGHT host Daniel Cormier his upcoming title fight with Jon Jones: “I’m so excited to be fighting this dude again. I’ve been waiting for two and a half years and I’ve started the war of words. Bottle to the face. Bap!”

Jon Jones to Cormier: “He wants what I have. He wants to be known as the guy. He’s simply not. The truth is he’s not a champion. He never won NCAA, the Olympics and he never won the UFC light heavyweight championship.

Cormier on Jones’ account of the backstage altercation: “I never said anything about his haircut. He said you can’t beat me and asked how I was going to face my kids. So it was bottle to the face. You can’t talk about my kids. Leave families out of it. It’s about me and you. All the things he mentioned: the NCAA tournament and Olympics – I went to the NCAA tournament and I went to the Olympics. All these things he wished he had done. I did them. That’s your issue, you want what I’ve got. July 29, you get to try taking it back. It’s not happening. I will beat Jon Jones in Anaheim.”

Cormier on Stipe Miocic’s KO victory at UFC 211 over Junior Dos Santos: “From the moment he walked in, Stipe carried himself like the man. There’s no doubt he’s going to defend the title. He walked Dos Santos down, moved forward, and got his hands on him. This wasn’t like their first fight. JDS just isn’t capable of taking those kinds of punches anymore.”

UFC TONIGHT host Kenny Florian on Miocic’s title defense: “Stipe never let Junior Dos Santos get going in the fight. He backed him up. He went out there like a juggernaut. He looked angry and he stalked him. Junior was on his heels from the first moment and looked completely confused. It shut down his offense and allowed Stipe to do what he wanted.”

Cormier on who Miocic should fight next: “Cain Velasquez is the best fight, but I don’t know if he’ll be ready. But I say give it to the Black Beast Derrick Lewis next, if he can beat Mark Hunt. Lewis has been on a roll and he’s been active. He’s looked phenomenal.”

Florian believes the winner of Fabricio Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem should get the next title shot at Miocic: “I think that’s the best fight you can make, the winner of Werdum vs. Overeem. They’re ready and both have a history with him. But I agree that Cain is the dream fight.”

Amanda Nunes on her altercation with Valentina Shevchenko: “I gave her a push. She touched me first. She knows she did. Nobody can touch me.”

Nunes on how she’ll fight Shevchenko this time: “I’ve improved my conditioning. I’ll train for five rounds. I’ll correct my mistakes from that fight.”

Nunes on if she wants to go for the belt at 145 as well: “I throw it around. I don’t want to fight Cyborg. If I have to do that, I’ll have to be stronger. I’ll have to do the training. I beat de Randamie already. But I don’t know where she is now.”

Nunes on if she trains with Joanna Jedrzejczyk at ATT: “I don’t spar with her. We’re really not teammates, more like gym mates. I’m happy for her and her win.”

Nunes believes Nina Ansaroff will defeat Jedrzejczyk: “Nina is the one who’s going to beat Joanna.”

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone on his fight against Robbie Lawler: “If you’re a fan of fighting, this is a fight that doesn’t have to be sold. It’s going to be so fun.”

Cerrone what a win means over Lawler: “Win or lose, I love it. But a win means I’m right back in the mix.”

Cerrone on who should be headlining UFC 213 if Garbrandt pulls out: “Me and Robbie. But we’re not a title fight, and they have to have a title fight be the headliner.”

Cerrone on his six months off: “I love fighting. I don’t like to sit. My training camps are fun.”

Cerrone on if he would fight at 155 again: “I tried, but Dana said no. If the fight was right and the money was right, I’d go down to 155 for sure.”

Florian on who should headline UFC 213 if Cody Garbrandt pulls out: “I think it should be Michael Bisping vs. Yoel Romero. But if not them, then the answer is there isn’t another choice.”

Cormier on who should headline UFC 213: “Let’s see them do the TJ Dillashaw vs Demetrious Johnson fight. Dillashaw has the size to give Johnson problems and it’s a fight that’s worthy of headlining.”

Miesha Tate on a possible UFC 213 headliner: “I think Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko is a great headliner. Valentina is a phenomenal striker and was picking up steam in their first fight.”

Tate on if McGregor vs. Mayweather is good for the UFC: “This is a great fight. It brings exposure to both fights. Conor has nothing to lose.”

Florian on if a boxer vs. UFC fighter is good for the UFC: “It’s good for Conor. Conor can make a hundred-million dollars. He can make a payday. But Stipe Miocic can’t do it. Other fighters can’t do that.”

Cormier on McGregor vs. Mayweather: “No, it’s not good for the UFC. I’ve said it time and time again, Conor will lose. It’s embarrassing for UFC fighters taking on professional boxers. The guys will get slept.”
