Combate Global to host an all-women’s live tv MMA event on Friday, April 8

NEW YORK – March 31, 2022 – Combate Global today announced that it will produce an-women’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight card for the televised portion of its second event of 2022 on Friday, April 8, live from Miami on Univision (12 a.m. ET/PT) and TUDN USA (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT) in the U.S. and on TUDN in Mexico (11 p.m. local time).

 

Headlining the event will be reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Muay Thai champion Claudia Diaz (1-3 MMA, 17-7-1 Muay Thai), who will take on fellow MMA upstart Manuela “The Butcher’s Daughter” Marconetto (1-1 MMA, 4-1 Muay Thai) in a strawweight (115 pounds) contest.

 

Diaz of Barcelona, Spain via Houston, Texas will make her first stand of the New Year on her 27th birthday. Diaz burst onto the Combate Global scene last year when she scored a devastating, second round (3:27) TKO (punches) on “Sexy” Dulce Garcia April 30, 2021.

Fighting out of London, England, Marconetto, 31 years old, is a native of Torino, Italy, and member of Great Britain Top Team coached by Brad Pickett.

 

Marconetto is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Stephanie Essensa on January 15.

 

In an atomweight (105 pounds), co-main event, Irlanda Galindo (1-1) will battle Anna “Honey Badger” Somers (0-1).

 

The youngest athlete on the Combate Global roster, Galindo, 18 years of age, earned the 2021 Combate Global “Submission of the Year” award for her second round (4:51) submission (rear-naked choke) of Maraya Miller last August 1. The bout was Galindo’s professional debut.

 

The 28-year-old Somers will look for her first win as a professional, following a six-fight amateur career during which she recorded four wins against two losses, including three victories by way of (T)KO or submission.

 

In a featured bout on the card, Flor De Durazno Chavez Pastrana (0-0) of Mexico City will make her professional debut against Blanca Marquez (0-1) of Las Vegas, Nev. in a flyweight (125 pounds) contest.

 

In preliminary bout action, Andrea Amaro (1-2) of El Paso, Texas will look for her first Combate Global victory against Carolynn Cordoba Hinojosa (0-1) of Mexico City at strawweight.
