First there was “ageless Achie,” and now there’s Bernard who’s alien to longevity!
Bernard Hopkins successfully defeated Karo Murat last Saturday, showing his spritely maestro skills. Respect your elders and betters!
Bernard then showed his nursing timeless ambition by challenging the best pound for pound in the world. “Popkins,” enticingly suggesting of the youngster:
“Floyd’s skills are so out there that he can risk going up to 160 It isn’t the weight that is going to win the fight, it’s the skills. The only guy who is going to beat a guy like Floyd Mayweather is a master chess player. And who is the master chess player? I’ll go back to 160. It’s the biggest old [man] fight. Everyone from the nursing home will be watching.”
Up to now, this fight hasn’t transpired for several reasons
The weight: Floyd is a natural welter, he can reach super welter, but we don’t know if he could go one heavier, and how this would affect him, especially his speed.
The age: Hopkins is 48 and Mayweather 36. If this fight takes place, it might be a ten rounder?
Money and egos: both boxers have had a long career and have been financially very successful, especially Floyd. So it would be hard for them to reach an agreement on the purse?
