BUTLER RARING TO GO FOR GONZALEZ AT COPPER BOX ARENA

saunders_ryderSuper-flyweight star Paul Butler is straining at the leash ahead of his showdown with South American ace Miguel Gonzalez.

Undefeated Butler, from Ellesmere Port, faces the tough Chilean for the Vacant WBO Intercontinental title on a multi-title extravaganza at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday 21st September alongside stars Dereck Chisora, Billy Joe Saunders, John Ryder and Liam Walsh.

The 24-year-old British and Commonwealth champion lit up last season with three stunning back-to-back stoppage wins and he is again ready to show that he is Britain’s hottest talent and is on track to challenge for a world title.

He faces a hard test against his first Latin opponent who is also undefeated and has the edge on experience with 17 fights under his belt, plus the South American title, but Butler is confident he’ll emerge on top.

“I’ve had a great year so far knocking up three wins all by KO and now I’m beginning the new season with a good hard fight against an unbeaten South American challenger for the WBO Intercontinental title, I can’t wait for it,” Said Butler.

“I never watch my opponents, I leave that to my trainer Anthony Farnell, he says that Gonzalez is a strong, decent, come forward fighter and will be in my face all night.  I love that, I won’t have to go looking for him and I won’t have to chase him all night, if he’s in front of me he’s going to get smashed,”

“Saying that, I’m not expecting it to be easy, I know he’s going to be a tough kid, he’s coming to my backyard and he’s undefeated so he fancies his chances, but I’m raring to go right now and Arnie is having to hold me back,”

“I’ll break him down with my jab and bust him up when I let my big shots go, he’ll know that he’s in with a proper hard-hitting super-flyweight.  I won’t rush it against him though, I’ll take my time, pick him apart and take him out of his stride and then go in for the knockout.”
