Boxeo Telemundo Ford Spring Season Opener March 6

boxeo_telemundoKissimmee, FL: The season opener for the spring series of the successful series “Boxeo TELEMUNDO Ford” will now kick off March 6 from the the traditional Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, FL, which has been home of the series for 14 years, the series debut in the building was on October 19, 2001 when former world champion Oscar “Chololo” Larios defeated then contender Angel “Avispa” Chacon.

The main event will pit another Puerto Rico-Mexico rivalry when former world title challenger Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo (24-4-16 KO’s) of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico faces national champion Gabino “Flash” Cota (17-3-1-15 KO’s) of Navojoa, Sonara, Mexico in a bout schedule for 10 Rounds with the WBO Latino Featherweight title on the line.
Oquendo will be making his 4th appearance on the series and at the emblematic Civic Center where he is undefeated, in his last fight his lost a hard fought decision to Abner Mares last July in Las Vegas, NV. Cota on the other hand is the National featherweight champion from Mexico will be making his US debut, in his last fight he moved up to the
jr lightweight division and lost a decision to WBO #2 contender Andrey Klimov last november in Russia.

The undercard will be announce shortly, 6 more fights are schedule. Doors open 7:30 PM, First bell at 8:30 PM. Telemundo Network will televise the main event at 11:35 PM EST live.
