MIAMI – FEBRUARY 26, 2013- Telemundo offers up a fight worthy of a “David vs. Goliath” billing this Friday night at 11:35PM/10:35 C between heavy favorite Omar “Lobito” Soto and Ulises “Ratoncito” Lara, the promising fighter that will attempt to pull off the upset and come away with the prestigious Mexican National Flyweight Title. The bout will take place at the Polanco Forum in Mexico City with René Giraldo and Jessi Losada ringside to narrate all the action.

Karim Mendiburu will also be ringside following all the reactions from boxing fans around the world on social media via Twitter on @telemundosports and #boxeotelemundo.

Lara already knows what it’s like to thrill the “Boxeo Telemundo” audience, since he already did so on July 23, 2010 with one of the most spectacular and memorable fights of the show in recent years against Luis “Gallo” Ceja. Back then, the decision came down to the judges. One of them ruled 77-75 in favor of Lara, while the other two saw a 76-76 draw. That fight was chosen as the Fight of The Year by the Mexico City Boxing Commission. Two and a half years later, Lara wants to prove that he can shock the world once again. His career record includes 12 wins, 12 losses and two draws with six KOs.

Soto, meanwhile, arrives to the fight with a championship swagger as the reigning titleholder in the NABO/OMB Flyweight division. That title was made possible thanks to his defeat of Glenn Donaire, the older brother of renowned boxer Nonito Donaire. That fight was actually the only one Soto participated in during all of 2012, but he is a grizzled veteran with a record of 23 wins, 15 of them via the knockout, nine losses and two draws. Of those 15 KOs, 10 of them happened in the first three rounds, including three in the very first round.

Will Lara be able to summon that magical night from 2010 once again in front of his hometown fans? Or will it be Soto who establishes his supremacy against his fellow countryman?

The answers to all this questions will be answered on “Boxeo Telemundo Ford” this Saturday at 11.35PM/10.35 C.
