Orlando “El Fenómeno” Cruz vs Rómulo Koasicha on “Boxeo Telemundo Ford,” Friday
Miami –March 3, 2016- “Boxeo Telemundo Ford,” the number one boxing program on US Hispanic television, presents the second fight of its spring lineup: Puerto Rico’s Orlando “El Fenómeno” Cruz vs. Mexico’s Rómulo Koasicha, this Friday, March 4 at 11:35PM/10:35C at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida.
Hailing from Barrio Quintana in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Orlando Cruz (22-4-1, 11KO), ranked ninth in the WBO’s Super Featherweight standings, is enjoying one of the high points in his career after winning both of his fights in 2015. On June 27, he took home the WBA’s Fedecentro Lightweight title after defeating fellow Puerto Rican Edwin “Bazookita” López in a fourth-round TKO. In his last outing, a “Boxeo Telemundo Ford” featured match, he won NABO’s Super Featherweight belt over Mexico’s Gabino “Flash” Cota by referee decision in the tenth round.
Cruz may be the favorite in this encounter, but Rómulo Koasicha (25-5, 15KO) of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, has a longer record and more knockouts to his credit. He took the ring four times in 2015, beating three of his contenders: Edgar Monárrez (D-8), Jesús Santillán (KO-4), and Guillermo “El Borrego” Ávila (TKO-7). His only loss was against Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachencko for the WBO’s World Featherweight title after 10 intense rounds in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The third fight of the “Boxeo Telemundo Ford” spring season will pit Mexican vs. Mexican as Carlos “Fino” Ruiz and Joel Montes de Oca go 10 rounds for the WBO’s Latin Super Featherweight title in Mexico City on Friday, March 11 at 11:35PM/10:35C.
In the fourth and last headliner of the season, on Friday, March 18 at 11:35PM/10:35C, two other world-class pugilists, Alejandro “Payasito” Hernández and Isao Carranza, will duke it out for Mexico’s Super Bantamweight title.
