Vargas (24-0, 9 KOs), of Las Vegas, NV, will be making his first title defense a homecoming, and will rumble with undefeated contender Novikov (29-0, 10 KOs), of Kopeysk, Russia. In the main event of the night, Brandon Rios (31-2-1, 22 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., will be making his eagerly-anticipated 2014 debut against one-time interim world champion Diego Chaves (23-1, 19 KOs), of Buenos Aires, in a 10-round welterweight battle.
