Video: Holly Holm talks Cris Cyborg fight on UFC 219
UFC® will finish 2017 with a blockbuster event when UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg (18-1, 1NC, fighting out of Huntington Beach, Calif. by way of Curitiba, Brazil) battles former women’s bantamweight titleholder Holly Holm (11-3, fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico) at UFC® 219: CYBORG vs. HOLM. This marks the second consecutive year that the UFC’s New Year’s card will be headlined by a women’s championship fight. The event will take place Saturday, Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be available live on Pay-Per-View.
Among the most dominant fighters in mixed martial arts, Cyborg captured the vacant UFC women’s featherweight championship with a spectacular TKO win over Tonya Evinger at UFC 214 in July. Holding 16 knockout wins to her name, the Brazilian slugger now looks to cement her title reign with a stunning stoppage against Holm.
A multiple-time boxing champion whose head kick KO win over Ronda Rousey sent shockwaves through the MMA world, Holm aims to become the first woman to hold championships in two separate UFC divisions. Known for her precision striking and slick footwork, Holm’s most recent outing saw her deliver another highlight-reel knockout over Bethe Correia.
