Combate Global Announces Complete Fight Card For This Friday
NEW YORK – September 14, 2021 – Combate Global today announced a complete, seven-bout Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight card, headlined by a ‘Mexico vs. USA’ themed matchup, live on Paramount+ on Friday, Sept. 17 from Miami, Fla.
Paramount+ live coverage will begin with a Combate Global pre-show at 10:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. CT, and will continue with the live fight action, beginning at 11:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. CT.
Additionally, this week’s Combate coverage is complemented on CBS Sports Network with a one-hour recap show from the September 10 event on Thursday, September 16 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
In the featherweight (145 pounds) main event, Mexico’s Martin “El Toro” Bravo (11-3) will collide with seasoned American competitor Andrew “The Beast” Whitney (16-9) of Miami.
Fighting out of Hickman, Calif. and the famed Nick Diaz Academy in Stockton, Calif., the 27-year-old Bravo hails from Rosarito, B.C., Mexico and was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 competition reality television series in 2016.
In a featured lightweight (155 pounds) matchup, Carlos “El Changuito” Calvo Calvo (7-1) of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica will tangle with Javier “Blair” Reyes (11-3) of Bogota, Colombia.
On the heels of her impressive, first round (4:36) submission (armbar) victory over Jade Jorand in Combate Global action just two weeks ago, Gloria “La Gloriosa” Bravo (5-5) of Santiago, Chile will return to La Jaula, the Combate Global competition cage, to face unbeaten Irlanda Galindo (1-0) of Mexico City, Mexico.
The four-fight preliminary bout card will be highlighted by a welterweight (170 pounds) contest between undefeated rising star Eric Alequin (5-0) of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Team AKA member Ernesto Ancona (3-1) of San Jose, Calif.
In women’s bantamweight (135 pounds) action, Maritza Sanchez (1-1) of El Dorado, Calif., will square off with Elizabeth Schroder (1-1) of Durham, N.C.
In another bantamweight bout, undefeated David Solorzano (3-0) of San Francisco, Calif. will face off with Ramon Vizcarra (3-2) of Mexicali, B.C.
Christopher Daniels (5-2-1) of Miramar, Fla. will meet Santiago Monreal (4-2) of Mexicali, B.C. at flyweight (125 pounds).
