BUTLER TO FACE LATINO CHALLENGER FOR TITLE

Ellesmere Port sensation Paul Butler will face Nicaraguan Arnoldo Solano this Friday(28th June) for the Vacant WBO Intercontinental Super-Flyweight Championship at the Liverpool Olympia, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

The fast-rising young star of British boxing goes for the third title in his career to add to his British and Commonwealth belts and knows that a win will get him an important ranking in the WBO as he continues his march towards a world title.

Big-punching Butler, 24, is unbeaten in 11 fights with 6 knockouts and his last three back stoppages of John Donnelly, Anwar Alfadli and Yaqub Kareem have excited the boxing world with his undoubted talent.

Solano, 21, who hails from the Nicaraguan capital Managua, has won 14 from 18 fights and has previously challenged for the WBO Latino title.

Butler is expecting a tough challenge from his first Latino opponent, but is confident he’ll come through and as he make the first defence of the title on Saturday 20th July at Wembley Arena.

“I’m excited to be facing Solano on Friday night, he’ll be a rough, tough, Latino who will come for a fight and it’ll be exciting for the fans,” Said Butler.

“I’m starting to move up through the opponents now and Solano represents another test in my career who will show me something different that I can learn from,”

“I don’t watch my opponents, I prefer to leave that to my trainer Anthony Farnell, so he’ll have a good look at Solano.  If you’re going to be a great champion you need to prepare for all styles and adapt when necessary so I prefer to go in and figure him out for myself,”

“He’ll be hard, as they all are from South America, but I’ll go in and concentrate on doing the job that I’ve got to do on him.  I’m certainly not relying just on my punch power, I could become complacent as my last three have gone early, but I’ve got great boxing skills that I’ve been working even harder on and I’m prepared for the distance and if the stoppage comes then great.”
