Live on Paramount+: CG Announces Friday’s Fight Card

After going unbeaten in 2021, Mexico’s Ivan “Choko” Castillo will return to Combate Global action in a lightweight main event bout against Chilean Claudio “The Spider” Quintana on Friday, April 29.

NEW YORK – April 26, 2022 – Combate Global today announced a five-bout Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight card headlined by a lightweight (155 pounds) main event matchup between battle-tested Mexican standout Ivan “Choko” Castillo (22-13) and Chilean submission expert Claudio “The Spider” Quintana (8-4)  on Friday, April 29, live on Paramount+ from Miami, Fla.

Paramount+ live coverage will begin with a Combate Global pre-show at 10:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. CT, and will continue with the live fight action, beginning at 11:00 p.m. ET/10:00 p.m. CT.

Castillo, 31 years of age, hails from Ensenada, B.C., Mexico and will enter La Jaula, the Combate Global competition cage, riding a five-fight win streak.

Castillo went unbeaten in Combate Global action in 2021, defeating three straight opponents over the course of the year.

Like Castillo, the 30-year-old Quintana, who hails from Temuco, Chile and fights out of the Chicago, Ill.-based Valle Flow Striking camp, has won his last five straight fights, with four of the victories coming by way of (T)KO or submission.

Castillo’s resume includes a unanimous decision victory over Luis “Baboon” Palomino on May 4, 2019.

Combate Global’s main card on April 29 will feature another lightweight contest between Hugo “The Hooligan” Flores (9-4) of Chicago, Ill. via Guadalajara, J.L., Mexico and Richie Palomino (5-2) of Santa Ana, Calif.

In featured women’s flyweight (125 pounds) action, Mariel Celimen (1-1) of Miami will take on Tyler Schaefer (0-1) of San Diego, Calif.

The preliminary bout card will be highlighted by the return of 2021 “COPA COMBATE” tournament competitor and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt Cristian “Scorpio” Barraza (8-4) of Santiago, Chile.  Barraza will face off with Trevor Wells (5-3) of Murrieta, Calif. in a 130-pound catchweight affair.

In a women’s bantamweight (135 pounds) battle, Gillian Noll (1-1) of Spokane, Wash. will meet Kristina Pettigrew (1-2) of San Diego.
