The Dutch deliver with TKO’s at UFC Rotterdam
ELECTRIFYING MAIN CARD AT UFC FIGHT NIGHT: OVEREEM VS. ARLOVSKI
The kickboxing prowess of the Dutch was on full display on Sunday May 8th, 2016 at
Rotterdam Ahoy for Fight Night Overeem vs. Arlovski. The Netherlands v.s. the Rest: 3-0. All three Dutch fighters on the card delivered as promised and more. Three TKO’s. In addition two additional submissions on the main card made it that much more of an outstanding display of Mixed Martial Arts for the world to witness. It might be one of the best all-around UFC Fight Night main card deliveries to date. The sold out crowd at the arena was electric and the fighters did not disappoint. Overall a mega success for UFC’s debut in the Netherlands.
Alistair Overeem solidified his entitlement to challenge for the heavyweight belt by demolishing fellow Team Jackson-Wink fighter and former UFC Heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski with vicious body kicks, some ground and pound, a crane kick and serious punches leading to a TKO victory.
Stefan Struve made quick work of big foot Silva with a devastating knee to the body that dropped Silva Struve followed up with nasty elbows and the referee had to quickly end the bout.
The “Iron Lady” Germaine de Randamie showed why she is considered the most dangerous female stand-up fighter in the world, delivering devastating kicks to newcomer Anna Elmose that ultimately TKO’d her opponent. The rest of the main card: Gunner Nelson (Iceland) and Nikita Krylov (Ukraine) both won by rear-naked choke submission. And Polish female fighter Karoline Kowalkiewicz put down a solid performance with a dominant unanimous decision victory.
Overeem, Struve, de Randamie and Nelson all received $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses.
