Williams confident of winning first title and Williams-Lomax weigh-in details

Hard-hitting Welsh ace Liam William targets his first professional title when he takes on Michael Lomax for the Vacant Commonwealth Light-Middleweight title at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, on Monday 24th November.

The fight headlines promoter Frank Warren’s annual dinner show in support of the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins that is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and adults. The national charity works with people with a range of challenges such as autism, dementia, depression and physical and learning disabilities through the power of music.

Williams has looked sensational this year racking up three stoppage wins over Yuri Pompilio in Germany, British rival Ronnie Heffron in July in Manchester and last time out Stepan Horvath in Liverpool with a devastating body shot.

Chingford’s Lomax, a pro for over ten years with 28 fights under his belt, has faced some of the big domestic names around the weight including Frankie Gavin, Kell brook and Matthew Hatton.

Williams, who’s unbeaten in eleven with six knockouts, faces his biggest test yet, but the Gary Lockett trained talent is confident of claiming his first championship belt.

“I’ve been in great form this year and I aim to carry that into my last fight of the year against Lomax and I believe that you’ll see the best of me,” Said Lomax.

“I’d say this year has been the best of my career so far: a stoppage win in my first fight overseas against Pompilio, beating a top kid in Heffron in a British title eliminator and then Horvath, who had previously taken Chris Eubank six rounds and Frank Buglioni eights rounds, knocking him out in two, and now I hope to capture my first title,”

“Lomax is a good name on the British scene and he’s been in with some of the big names, he’s been around a long time with plenty of experience so it’s a good test for me at this stage in my career,”

“He’ll be tough, but I’ll look to break him down from the start with a good strong jab and mix it with some hard body shots, if the stoppage comes in the middle rounds I’ll be happy.”

On an action-packed undercard, Williams is joined by another undefeated Welsh talent in Blackwood lightweight Craig Evans in an eight-round contest against Ronnie Clark; hot undefeated Birmingham ace Joe Costello in a six round contest International super-featherweight contest against Jordan Vasilev; and Guisborough light-welterweight prospect Josh Leather takes on Fergus Taylor over six rounds.
