WBA appoints ring officials for Chagaev vs. Pianeta
Supervisor Thomas Puetz: “I am looking forward to a great night for Germany boxing!”
One week before WBA world heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev steps into the ring to defend his title against Francesco Pianeta at GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany, the World Boxing Association (WBA) appointed the ring officials. Russell Mora from Las Vegas will be the third man in the ring, the judges are Philipp Verbeke (Belgium), Manuel Palomo (Spain) and Hector Guillot (Venezuela). BDB President Thomas Puetz will be the WBA Supervisor and is looking forward to the event.
“This will be a huge night for German boxing”, says Puetz. “World Heavyweight Championships are always special. It is an honor for me to be appointed as supervisor. Both Ruslan and Francesco are licensed with the BDB and I have known them for many years. They are excellent boxers and I expect an exciting and close fight. May the best man win!”
The undercard of the “Heavy Night” in Magdeburg features some of the best Germany heavyweight contenders including former European Chapion Alexander Dimitrenko as well as WBC Silver International Champion Edmund Gerber. Michael Wallisch will try to win the WBO European title and hot prospect Tom Schwarz is taking on veteran “Sandman” Konstantin Airich. The event will be promoted by Timur Dugazaev (Terek Box-Event / Akhmat Promotion) in association with Ulf Steinforth (SES Boxing).
