Video: Daniel Geale: Weight cut was not to blame for loss, just got caught and thats what happens
“I don’t want to make excuses at all. We made the weight, and it wasn’t easy, it’s never easy, but I didn’t feel 100 percent out there, but Miguel Cotto is a great champion. He’s a great fighter. He’s fought the best fighters in the world, I’m not going to blame losing some pounds on what happened tonight. I got caught and that’s what happens.
Daniel Geale speaking at the post fight press conference following his loss to Miguel Cotto.
WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Champion Miguel Cotto obtained a fourth round technical knockout victory over former Two-Time World Champion Daniel Geale on June 6, 2015 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The 34-year-old Cotto improved to 40-4 with 33 knockouts and the win now sets up a likely showdown with Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez possibly later this year.
Geale, 34, fell to 31-4 with 16 knockouts. The former world champion suffered his third defeat in his last five fights.
