Video: Alfredo Angulo: I respect Lara, but I don’t respect that he is talking $%^%
“I don’t know. Two days ago he [Eryslandi Lara] put a lot of %^& on twitter. I respect all fighters, but when they speak $%^$ I don’t respect them. I don’t talk shit to fighters. I have respect for Lara, but I don’t respect that he’s talking shit” Alfredo Angulo
Super welterweight contender Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo was in attendance at the MGM, this past Thursday, September 12th, 2013 for a Golden Boy Live boxing show. We spoke to him about his last fight against Erislandy Lara, a fight which ended in a TKO loss for Angulo and controversy regarding the stoppage.
In a tremendous all-action slugfest Cuban Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s) of Houston, Texas, overcame two knockdowns to capture the vacant WBA Interim Super Welterweight World Championship with an exciting 10th-round technical knockout of Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo (22-3, 18 KO’s) of Los Angeles.
Following the fight, Angulo released a statement claiming a thumb caused the damage that prompted the stoppage, “I truly believe I was on the verge of knocking Lara down for the third time and winning the fight. The sharp pain of his thumb in my eye caused me to turn my back out of reflex and I could not see out of my left eye. I accept the decision made by the referee to stop the fight and look forward to getting back in the ring in the future. I will be back to give you a better show in my next fight.”
We ask him about all this in the interview
