Ukrain’s Dmytro Kucher will Face 71-Fight Veteran Galen Brown of St. Louis!
(San Diego) – World Boxing Council ranked #7 cruiserweight Dmytro Kucher will make a special stop in San Diego next Friday night, October 24th, to take on the durable and experienced Galen Brown as part of Bobby D. Presents “San Diego Fights: Back in Business” to be held at the new home for local professional boxing the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley.
Kucher turned professional after a successful amateur career in his home country of Ukraine in 2009. In five short years he has amassed an impressive record of 21 wins against only one defeat with fifteen wins inside the distance. Since going pro he’s had an impressive run stepping up in competition after only his 4th fight when he took on at the time forty-nine fight veteran Kostyantyn Okhrey who he stopped in two of a scheduled six. Kucher suffered his first loss in his last fight at the fists of Ilunga Makabu who defeated him via a hotly contested majority decision back in July of last year in Monaco. Since then Makabu has gone on to stop Eric Fields and Glen Johnson.
Kucher is ready to get back in the win column but has not taken the easy way back as he will face St. Louis native Galen “Bad Boy” Brown, a veteran of 71 bouts. Brown has been a test for the best of the heavier divisions such as Robert Stieglitz, Tye Fields, Hasim Rahman among others and now will look to put Kucher through the paces next week as the thirty-year-old Ukranian looks to protect his international ranking.
The Kucher vs Galen cruiserweight bout is scheduled for eight rounds or less.
The Crowne Plaza Hotel is located at 2270 Hotel Circle North, San Diego. “San Diego Fights” is presented by Bobby D. Presents with Mossy Automotive Group, Pepsi, Everlast, Filippi’s Pizza Grotto, DGS Construction and Car Czar. Doors open at 6:30pm with the first punch thrown at 7:30pm.
