TUF Finale: UFC Fight Pass Prelims Results Recap

Kevin Lee (11-2) vs. Jake Matthews (13-2)

(Lightweight Bout – 3 Rounds)

‎About 30 seconds into the match Lee closed distance, shot in deep on a single leg and got a takedown on Matthews. The slam was as pretty as it gets since Lee scooped him up over his head then blasted him into the Octagon floor reminiscent of Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard 2 at UFC 125. For the next couple of minutes Matthews worked out of half guard along the wall trying to posture. About the halfway mark he managed to get back to his feet only for the Las Vegas resident to force the battle back to the mat. Matthews landed some strikes first , then Lee returned fire before shooting in for another single leg, he didn’t get it as Matthews used a reversal to try and get him to the mat instead but both men fell face first with no one at an advantage. In a second however, Lee scrambled for dominant positioned by passing his man’s guard and taking his back. He propped up to back mount and began raining down vicious left and right hooks to the head and body of Matthews. The resilient 155er withstood as best as he could until the referee stepped in to waive it off.
RESULT: ‎Kevin Lee stops Jake Matthews via KO at (4:06) of Round 1.

Anton Zafir (7-3) vs. Li Jingliang (11-4)

(Welterweight Bout – 3 Rounds)

Zafir and Jingliang kicked off the TUF Finale: Team Joanna vs. Team Claudia night from inside ‎the MGM Grand Garden Arena inside the world famous MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas. It didn’t take long for the powerful Beijing native to impose his will on Zafir once the two met inside the cage. After trading takedowns during the first couple of minutes, the Chinese powerhouse used a body lock to close distance following some strikes, dragged his man to the canvas along the cage wall and uncorked a barrage of ruthless hooks to his opponent’s face. Jingliang controlled him with his left arm while unleashing the rights and they were met with little to no resistance as the referee stepped in to waive off the contest.

RESULTS: Li Jingliang finishes Anton Zafir by KO at (2:46) of Round 1 via strikes.
