Tijuana’s “Huevo” Bojorquez is Back!
The younger brother of the popular amateur standout Emilio Bojorquez, the charismatic Christian “Huevo” Bojorquez (11-0, 2KOs), is already making a name for himself in San Diego and Tijuana. Undefeated in eleven fights with two of them before the limit, “Huevo”, in his early twenties, is a veteran of the ring since he began boxing at a very early age trying to emulate his older brother. Both amassed impressive amateur careers winning tournaments at the municipal, state and national levels with Christian traveling abroad to Cuba to polish his boxing skills.

Christian debuted in pro boxing in October of 2010 with a hard earned majority decision over Salvador Cifuentes. He put together a string of wins on both sides of the border offering his wares from the Gaspar “Indio” Ortega gym in Tijuana’s famed zona norte neighborhood to the Four Points Sheraton hotel in San Diego.
In his toughest fight of his early career held in July of 2012, Bojorquez faced Thai fighter Walter Sarnoi at the Pechanga Casino and Resort in Temecula, California. Looked upon as the opponent for the popular Sarnoi, Bojorquez went down for the first time as a professional in the third round of the scheduled six round bout and again in the fifth. By the time of his first knockdown, Bojorquez had already sent Sarnoi down to the canvas and again in the sixth.
After a relentless war where no quarter was given, Bojorquez traveled south to his hometown of Tijuana with the win via a highly controversial split decision.
With the win Bojorquez, a college student, became a local prospect to watch and in turn has become a ticket seller in his native Tijuana where his last two fights have been held.
Not in the ring since June of last year, Bojorquez has been out of the ring due to an injury to his left hand. “They told me a bone in my hand moved probably from punching with my hand slightly opened. I needed the rest and some therapy. During therapy it began to hurt again so I needed more rest.”
Known as a technical fighter who uses his physical advantages in his favor, Bojorquez is known more for comfortably boxing from the outside scoring with long straight punches. With better-than-average footwork and quick hands Bojorquez has earned wins not only over the much more experienced Sarnoi but also local tough outs such as Pablo Cupul, Mario Lara and Cesar De La Mora.
I am very excited in coming back, I am glad that I am back in the gym and training, it has been a long road back,” Bojorquez said. “At first my conditioning was a bit off, I would spar for half a round and I would already be tired but now I am back in shape and ready.”
“I want to stay busy this year and hopefully by the end of the year I can go after a regional title,” he said in closing. “I am ready for it and I want to test myself.”
