Steve Marcano plans return to boxing on a new sports app Only Sports

Boxing is poised to breakout in a major way on a new sports app in the first quarter of 2025.

The venture being brought to the table is by none other than Steven Marcano who burst onto the scene years ago with the popular reality series Knockout that featured a live boxing card at the end of each season and more recently put on live events and the boxing interview show Champions and Stars on the Impact Network.

“Boxing over the last five years has seen the departure of two of its most powerful platforms in HBO and more recently Showtime,” said Marcano.

“Boxing now is dominated by DAZN and ESPN and other apps such as Amazon Prime and Netflix are on the rise. Of course there are smaller outlets, such as Bally sports and the Impact Network, but the sport is in need of a new platform which I will be unveiling in the near future.”

The Impact venture was run solely by Marcano‘s SMH Group which produced, funded, did all matchmaking and distributed several boxing events on the platform throughout the years of 2022 and 2023.

Marcano was one of Don King‘s close associates for years and was also intricate in brokering The Iron Mike Promotions deal, the WWE deal for Tyson and the Nrage Sports Management deal for Floyd Mayweather Jr. and has been successful and consistent in the space for the last nine years.

Marcano is returning to the space with what is projected to be one of the most mainstream sports apps. The app will be very heavy on boxing content as Marcano plans on providing live boxing events, reality shows such as the return of Knockout and another interview and news show that will be similar to Stars and Champions.

Marcano isn’t only providing boxing content as he will also produce documentaries for all sports.

The Lamar Odom and Caitlyn Jenner podcast that was created by Marcano was supposed to be the flagship show, but due to technical constraints delaying the launch of the app, that will not be the case.

Marcano is known as being a mover and shaker in sports and has brokered several millions of dollars in revenue. He is in negotiations with several key sports people and has many fighters ready to come aboard this project.

Don’t be surprised if Marcano duplicates the success that he had with Impact Boxing and finds himself and his new venture in the #3 spot by the Summer of 2025.
