4th October 2013 @ York Hall, Bethnal Green, London
LONDON – Oldham’s Mark Heffron is set for a tough test on the 4th October, when he faces recent Italian Super Middleweight Champion Roberto ‘The Hammer’ Cocco on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS mega event at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.
In his career to date, Mark has racked up a six victories, five of which were by early stoppage.
On his pro debut back in September 2010, at the Bekkerfield Festival in Heerlen, Holland, Mark knocked out Germany’s Torsten Roos in the second round, just thirteen days later, at the Urania Hall, Olszten, Poland he scored a points victory over homeboy Arek Malek.
Fifteen days later Mark was on his travels once more, this time to the Dr. Papp Laszio Sporthall in Szentes, Hungary, where he dispatched the home fighter Attila Molnar in the first round.
Just over a month later Mark was once again in action, this time he had a much shorter trip, to the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, where he knocked out Burnley’s Chris O’Brien in just one minute and ten seconds of the first round.
Five months later Mark headed to the City West Hotel in Dublin, where he stopped Spain’s David Pulido in the third.
It would be a whole year before Mark was next in action, once again he packed his bags and headed to Holland, where he dispatched Frenchman Fehti Bentafna inside the first round.
With only the one outing in 2012 and none so far in 2013, Mark is clearly fired up at getting some serious ring action on October 4th, as he made clear when he spoke earlier.
“I’m really pleased to be fighting at York Hall next week. It’s been well over a year since I last fought, so October 4th can’t come quick enough for me. Gary (manager Gary Hyde) has got me a good opponent, Roberto Cocco, he only lost his Italian title in June so I’m sure he wants to get back to winning ways, as much as I want to keep my unbeaten record”.
“Fights like these are what the fans want, it’s also what I want, I don’t want an easy ride, I’m a fighter and I want to fight the best. He may have a lot more experience than me, he’s had twenty three fights to my six, but stoppage wise we’re five apiece. I can’t wait, it’s going to be a cracking fight and the fans are going to love it”.
Mark Heffron versus Roberto Cocco features on the Dave Murphy, Acourtier Events promoted ‘NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS’ event, which takes place at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on Friday, 4th October 2013.
