Shane Mosley and Shawn Porter may be friends but showdown could happen in the ring

Big bro versus little bro? Could it really happen? No we are not talking about Floyd Mayweather and Adrien Broner but rather Shane Mosley and Shawn Porter.

Thurman and Porter face each other on June 25th for the WBA welterweight world title, while Mosley fights David Avanesyan for the interim world title just 3 weeks prior. So what happens next?

If both Mosley and Porter win and we get to Mosley-Porter, well, that is pretty intriguing. What if Mosley is able to pull off the upset and beat Porter or Thurman? What if he indeed does? That would earn him a spot in boxing history as one of the best of all time wouldn’t it? To beat one of those young lions while in his mid 40’s? Wow.

Mosley-Thurman? Am I the only one who would love to see this clash of KO punchers? For anyone who has ever fantasized about an all time great facing one of the current greats, this fight is a little like a wet dream. Its like Leonard vs Mosley or Mayweather vs Mayweather.

Well this fight may soon be a reality because yesterday via twitter Gilberto Mendoza Jr., the El Presidente de WBA, announced that the two winners HAD to fight! The winner will receive the SUPER belt. Winner of Thurman/Porter will be mandated to fight the winner of Mosley/Avanesyan. I have died and gone to boxing fan heaven. This fight will be a war, aclash of the ages!

History in the making. Will it be Mosley vs Thurman? Mosley vs Porter? Thurman vs Avanesyan? Porter vs Avanesyan? Which of these fights do you want to see? Which fight would be the biggest? One thing is for sure, since Porter’s dad Kenny was Shane’s trainer, and Shane has been sparring for years that could make for an interesting fight.

I don’t know the answer to that, but I am sure of one thing. I am rooting for Mosley to win his next fight, and I am rooting for the betting odds to finally be released so I can see who is the favorite. If Mosley is the favorite it would signify that the industry does in fact believe that Mosley is still a threat and can beat these top guys. If he isn’t the favorite its a chance for the fans to make some serious money. As Mosley often wins when he is the underdog as with Oscar both times, Margarito, Mayorga, and Vargas. He was the underdog in all of those fights and the fans made a lot of money off the bookies on those fights.
