Robles vs. Landeros II Now Main Event!
(San Diego, CA) – All is set for this Friday night’s next installment of “San Diego Fights” brought to “America’s Finest City” San Diego by California state hall of fame promoter Bobby DePhilippis onFriday, August 30th, at the only home for professional boxing in the city, the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Kearny Mesa. It was announced that the night would be a special one since it would mark the return of San Diego’s favorite fighting female Amaris “Diamond Girl” Quintana (6-1-2, 1KO) was all ready to make her way back to the ring after a more than a year hiatus. Unfortunately a freak accident in which Quintana suffered a cut to her left hand will have to postpone her much awaited comeback to a bit later this year.
Despite the setback, a night of fireworks is still expected when undefeated light welterweight Emmanuel “Renegade” Robles (8-0-1, 3KOs) of San Diego puts his undefeated record on the line against the much more experienced Adolfo “Terror” Landeros (22-32-2, 10KOs) in a six round tilt. The Robles vs Landeros match up will be the second time these two warriors meet. Earlier this year, Robles took a unanimous decision over Landeros in a much closer fight than the scores reflected. The tough Landeros of Mexico City has always been a tough out for anybody including Guy Robb, former champion Jhonatan Romero and Efrain Esquivias among others.
Robles is coming off an impressive knockout win over hard hitting Joshua Marks last April and will look to string up two wins inside the distance against Landeros.
Featured in the semi-main event, 2012 Olympic heavyweight Michael Hunter (1-0, 1KO) of Las Vegas, NV, will step into the ring for the second time as a professional in a true test when he takes on twenty-two fight veteran Francisco Mireles (15-7, 4KOs) of Agua Prieta, Mexico. Hunter, the son of former heavyweight Mike “Bounty Hunter” Hunter, made his pro debut a good one last March when he stopped Chad Davis in the third round. Now he will go in his first sixth rounder against a much more experienced Mireles who is coming a unanimous decision win over Noe Zamora.
In a special attraction featherweight four rounder, local amateur standout Prince “Tiger” Smalls (1-0-1) looks to put his second win in the record books when he takes on first timer Akkeenz Zamani in a scheduled four rounder. After having trouble against Erick Aguirre of Tijuana in his first fight, Smalls has righted the ship and took a shutout unanimous decision against Christian Cartier last month. Now Smalls will look to finish the night early for Zamani in front of his hometown.
Two more fight flesh out the card.
