Robert Jiménez will fight next Sunday downtown Las Vegas
Rob has always been an athlete and comes from a family of high-level athletes. He has uncles who have played on the Mexican soccer World Cup team and his father was also an athlete.
In the mid 90’s, Rob started to hear about MMA, leading him to pursue the sport. In 1996, Rob was introduced to the Machado brothers in Reseda, CA where he trained for a year.
In 1997 while living and training in Costa Mesa, CA, Rob was hit head-on by a car, rupturing his aorta, spleen and collapsing his lungs. Doctors told him to call his family because they weren’t sure if he was going to live – let alone train or play sports ever again.
Doctors predicted that Rob would remain bed-ridden for six months. He told himself that was not going to be his life. After only one week in the hospital, Rob walked out, amazing doctors. After a recovery process, he went on to compete in bodybuilding, squatting 600 lbs and benching 300lbs – after being told he’d never lift another weight again.
Now he is ready to compete in Downtown Beatdown at a high level.
