Rios: “You bang the body and the head will fall”
This past Saturday night, at the American Airlines Center, site of the HBO telecast featuring a featherweight duel between Miguel Angel Garcia and Juan Manuel Lopez , we caught up with “”Bam Bam” Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) who was in town cheering on his stable mate and great friend Mikey Garcia . Garcia (32-0, 27 KOs) stopped Juan Manuel Lopez (33.3,30 KOs) at 1:35 of the 4th round in scintillating fashion. Rios gave huge accolades to Garcia for a great performance stating he knew Garcia was ready and had no doubt the fight would play out the way it did.
Rios is scheduled to fight Manny Pacquiao later this year in Macao, China. Rios was available for a few comments. Fresh in the 140 pound division, Rios is moving up to welterweight after just two fights and doesn’t see any concerns getting acclimated to the new weight class. “I will be bigger and stronger at that weight, I will carry my punching power” stated Rios.
Pacquiao last fought in December of last year where he was knocked out cold in the 6th round against Juan Manuel Marquez. When asked how he sees his fight playing out with Pacquiao, Rios said this: “You bang the body and the head will fall”.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios is scheduled for November 23, 2013 live from the Venetian Resort in Macao, China and Promoted by Top Rank.
